Adopt a friend. Save a life. Almost Home Humane Society

Pet Food Pantry

Almost Home’s slogan is “Adopt a Friend. Save a Life.” and we whole-heartedly dedicate ourselves to completing families through pet adoption. But adoption isn’t the entirety of what we do here at AHHS. We also dedicate ourselves to keeping pets with their families and we have several programs that help us achieve this goal.

The largest program we operate with the goal of helping families and pets stay together is our pet food pantry. We never want a pet to go hungry, nor do we want a temporary inability to provide for a pet to be the reason a pet is surrendered. Last year our pet food pantry provided 17,000 pounds of food to local pet owners.

Anyone in need of assistance is welcome to come to our food pantry once per month and we do our best to provide a two-week supply of food. However, we are only able to provide food when we have donated food to distribute. This summer has been particularly rough on our food pantry and we have frequently ran out of food to distribute, which is something we hate to see happen at Almost Home.

You can help us keep our pet food pantry stocked and ensure that pet families don’t have to be turned away when they are most in need. What can you do?

  • Donate food to our pantry. We accept all brands of dry dog and cat food for our pantry (open bags are allowable).
  • Host a food drive at your place of business, school or organization. Almost Home can even provide you with bins for your drive.
  • Consider asking for donations for the animals rather than gifts for your next event or holiday. We are lucky every year to have many local individuals collect items for the animals in honor of their birthday or anniversary.
